A Birmingham based community radio station have recently
adopted text-connect™ to give listeners an extra way
of interacting with the stations DJs.
The station broadcasts to Birmingham and the surrounding
area and reflects the multicultural flavour of the
city, with a particular emphasis on African Caribbean
culture and aspiration.
text-connect™ provided the station with a 'text number'
which listeners use to contact the DJs. Polls, quiz's,
music requests and show feedback are all proving popular
with listeners and DJs alike.
Incoming texts are delivered into the studio via
a PC connected to the Internet. Delivery of messages
is almost instant meaning that DJs get and can relay
listener feedback live on air.
The station manager says "text-connect make us more
accessible to our listeners. They keep our text-number
in their phones and their messages arrive in the Studio
almost instantly. The system gives DJs and listeners
a text option in a way which is not possible with
a 'studio' mobile phone. "
No software or hardware had to be installed, making
the system quick and easy to implement. Little or
no formal training was required due to the intuitive,
user friendly nature of text-connect™ and costs are
low.
