Text-Connect™ has been chosen by an International
marine research organisation to help protect its research
samples. Samples are preserved in fridges set to maintain
a specific temperature range.
The organisation undertakes, co-ordinates and promotes
marine research over the 220 million acres of coast
and ocean. Samples are collected from the Irish Sea
and areas of the North Atlantic.
Fridges are located in the organisations laboratories
and all contain GSM modems & SIM cards which enable
them to send a text message to the organisations Text-Connect™
text number.
Should a fridge drop below a specified temperature
a text message is triggered and sent to the 'text
number'. On receipt Text-Connect™ instantly
forwards the message to a web page hosted on the organisations
web server via a HTTP call.
The web page processes the content of the message,
identifies the fridge at fault and using Text-Connect™,
sends out a text message to the person in the lab
responsible for the fridge to alert them to the problem.
Additionally an emailed copy of the message is forwarded
to the Quality Manager for reference.
The organisation developed a custom system for maintaining
fridge up-time using the Text-Connect™ "Software
Developer" package, API
and 'text-number'.
Our client confirms that Text-Connect™ gives
them the following benefits:
- The system has reduced down time and the subsequent
risk of damage to valuable samples.
- 24 hour 7 days per week remote monitoring which
automatically targets the specific person responsible
for the failed equipment.
- Centralised processing for all the equipment creates
maintenance and call out logs for managed replacement
of unreliable equipment.
- The custom development of a system which can be
modified as circumstances change.
