Flood Control company to help ensure river level sensors
are working correctly and alert engineers when levels
reach dangerous height.
Our client is a global supplier of systems which
protect against flooding, providing a range of barriers
and flood gates to protect individual premises, through
to unmanned utility sites and wide area community
defence projects.
Text-Connect™ assisted in a project to protect
the water front area of a historic town in the North
West.
The project required an unmanned, fully automated
flood protection system and incorporated hydraulically
operated flip-up barriers managed by a main control
system.
Ultrasonic water sensors monitor river levels and
communicate with the main control system. When river
levels reach a pre set level Text-Connect™
is used to send SMS text message alerts.
The ultrasonic water sensors and other system components
feature in built diagnostic functions which trigger
an SMS text alert when a problem is detected. In these
cases a copy of the SMS text alert is sent to a Text-Connect™
'Text-Number' from where they are forwarded as emails
to the Engineering team.
Our 'Text-Number'
forwarding options give our client the option
to forward the alert to multiple engineers
by SMS Text or Email or to a Web Server where they
can be handled automatically with software.
Our client selected the Text-Connect™ 'Business'
package which includes a 'text-number' and 1000 message
credits.

Escalate™ . This new feature means that
senior managers or engineers only receive alert messages
when a problem has not been solved by their subordinates.
- Using Text-Connect Escalate™ you pre define
a group of individuals to receive your SMS text
alert. When triggered, an initial text alert is
sent to the first person in your list of recipients.
- When the problem is solved the person sends a
text to cancel the Escalation.
- If after a period no text is received, the next
person in your list receives a SMS copy of the alert
message.
- If the Escalation isn't cancelled, the Alert
works it's way up through your organisation to the
most senior people.
